Call for Collaborative Projects Now OPEN

Call for collaborative projects is now OPEN

The Call for Collaborative Projects under the DETOUR project is now open with the applications due by 1 June 2026 (12:00), marking the transition from research and training to the practical implementation of innovative tourism initiatives. From September 2026 to May 2027, selected partnerships will design and implement projects along the four pilot routes, supported by mini-grants ranging from €15,000 to €25,000 (100% funded).

This phase builds on the preparatory work carried out since early 2025. Research conducted between February and April 2025 identified local needs, governance models and opportunities for SMEs along the four pilot routes. These insights informed the development of targeted training activities, including a Train the Trainers programme in autumn 2025 and SME training delivered between January and April 2026, aimed at strengthening skills and fostering collaboration across the tourism ecosystem.

Proposals will be evaluated from 1 June to 12 July 2026, with results published by 13 July 2026. Selected projects will start from 1 September 2026 and must run for six to nine months. Funding is provided as a lump sum, meaning beneficiaries focus on delivering agreed results rather than reporting every expense; the proposals must be submitted by partnerships of 2 to 5 entities, with at least half being tourism SMEs, and at least one SME operating on the selected pilot route section. Eligible SMEs must meet the EU definition and operate in tourism or related sectors, including accommodation, food services, agritourism, mobility, cultural and creative industries, leisure and sports, IT and green solutions, and environmental or circular economy services. At least 60% of each project budget must be allocated to tourism SMEs, while equipment costs are eligible up to 30%.

Between seven and twelve top-ranked proposals per participating country (Italy, Greece, Bulgaria and Türkiye) will be selected for funding. For further details and application Click here
