DETOUR at the 13th Training Academy on Cultural Routes

The 13th Training Academy on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe was held from 2 to 5 June 2026 in Pécs, Hungary, and Osijek, Croatia, organised by the Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route together with the European Institute of Cultural Routes and the Council of Europe.

The Academy, under the theme “Shaping Confidence and Diversity,” brought together over 100 participants from Cultural Routes, institutions, and stakeholders to exchange practices, strengthen cooperation, and discuss the future development of the programme.

The event featured a dedicated session on accessibility and inclusion based on the DETOUR training module on accessibility. On 5 June, Elena Dubinina, project leader from the European Association of the Via Francigena ways (AEVF), presented the DETOUR training module on accessibility, highlighting practical strategies for creating more welcoming and inclusive experiences for people with disabilities, families, youth, and other vulnerable groups along the cultural routes.

This session demonstrated how DETOUR’s training modules and Cultural Routes can serve as powerful tools for promoting inclusive cultural experiences across Europe, fostering dialogue and shared learning among diverse participants.
