DETOUR at the 14th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes
DETOUR project was featured as a best practice at the Council of Europe Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes, held in Cappadocia (Türkiye) on 22 – 24 October 2025.
This annual event gathered more than 400 experts and representatives from cultural routes, tourism institutions, and heritage organisations across Europe and beyond. The 2025 edition held a title “Living Heritage of Landscapes: The Role of Cultural Routes in Sustainable Cultural Development and Community Empowerment.”
DETOUR was represented by four partner organisations — the Municipality of Fidenza (Italy), the European Association of the Via Francigena Ways (Italy), the Culture Routes Society (Türkiye), and ATM (Türkiye). The project’s objectives and activities were showcased by Luca Bruschi, DETOUR coordinator, during a panel on 24 October focused on living heritage of communities, highlighting project contribution to strengthening tourism ecosystems and promoting along the walking routes.
Throughout the forum, the DETOUR team engaged in valuable networking with cultural routes, institutional representatives, and international organisations, increasing the visibility of the project among the broader European Cultural Routes community. Project communication materials were distributed to participants, helping to spread awareness of DETOUR’s innovative approach to empowering SMEs and supporting sustainable tourism development.
The Forum was hosted in Cappadocia, a region renowned for its unique landscapes, historical heritage, and strong local traditions. The setting perfectly reflected the Forum’s focus on living heritage and sustainable development. Cappadocia is also home to members of the European Route of Ceramics and the Iter Vitis Route, showcasing its deep cultural and artisanal legacy within the Cultural Routes network.
