Launch of the European “Train the Trainers” Program by DETOUR
Tourism professionals, industry associations, public bodies, and local stakeholders are invited to apply for the “Train the Trainers” program, an innovative training initiative launched within the framework of the European project DETOUR – Developing Resilient Tourism Ecosystems along Mediterranean Routes.
Co-funded by the European Union and running from November 2025 to September 2027, DETOUR involves eight international partners and aims to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of tourism SMEs along four cultural routes: the Via Francigena (Italy), the Lycian Way (Türkiye), the Sultan’s Trail (Bulgaria), and a network of mountain trails in Greece (Mount Olympus, Kissavos, Mavrovouni).
The “Train the Trainers” program targets tourism experts, consultants, destination management organizations (DMOs), local authorities, and academics with experience in supporting tourism businesses and related sectors such as agri-food, crafts, and culture. Selected participants will benefit from a free online training course of 5 hours, scheduled between August 1 and November 30, 2025*, followed by 20 hours of in-person training focused on key themes shaping the future of the sector: sustainability, digitalization, resilience, and tourism product innovation.
Certified DETOUR trainers will join a European network of experts and take part in hands-on mentoring activities for local SMEs, including guidance on accessing micro-financing opportunities of up to €25,000 for innovative green and digital projects.
